Home theatre basement transformation
Do you love your basement? It was a long time coming for me but I can now say, I do! See, when our basement was first finished, the goal was “rustic cabin” but we didn’t go far enough in the theme, chickening out of ideas like a slat wood wall, wall-mounting vintage skis, and building a log cabin guest room. For a place we watched movies, none of it made sense. So it was that we’d developed a basement that, right from the start, we wished so much to reimagine as a theatre theme. Nine years later, we decided to stop talking about it… and just DO IT.
And because I knew the couch was the first piece to get in place, we started at Palliser Rooms EQ3. This post is sponsored by Palliser Rooms EQ3 but the opinions are 100% mine!
Why a couch first, you ask? Well, we got our last couch (pictured after we’d already picked out our new one & painted the walls… I’m not winning awards for keeping timelines straight with this post) from Palliser Rooms EQ3 17+ years ago so first off, a new one would be with us for years to come. A sectional is the heart of the room for my family so it's got to be high quality, super comfy, hold up to my kids and cat, and be easy to clean. Being that I’ve been a long-time customer of locally-owned Palliser Rooms EQ3, I knew they could deliver those non-negotiables.
We looked at a few shapes and above curved silhouette was a very close call… but I couldn’t resist the tufting and classic shape of the Palliser Barrett piece we chose.
Flip on through for reno pics! The wallpaper looks so much more cohesive with dark navy walls, I think.
My husband Tyler found a whole bunch of posters and frames on Marketplace. Score!
We commissioned Rhine Artisans to do a deco bar which turned out spectacularly, I think.
And y’all. THIS COUCH. Every time my family enjoys a movie, we talk about what a great choice it was. If you are thinking about new furniture, seriously take a walk at the gorgeous Palliser Rooms EQ3 showroom. Not only are they the largest Palliser dealer in North America, they stock many other wonderful Canadian brands. And this is not a chain store. It’s owned by a family I personally know and I’m proud to work with them to promote LOCAL!
