Bridge City Vet Rehab levels up pet care in Saskatoon
Tucked into a long, unassuming building on 47th Street, you’ll find Bridge City Veterinary Rehabilitation — a spacious, top-of-the-line wellness centre for pets in Saskatoon. Friends, this facility is remarkable. Offering traditional vet care as well as rehab support, Bridge City’s wraparound approach sets them apart from other clinics. After a successful first year, owners Dr. Christina Meschkat CCRV, cVMA & Sarah Mooney RVT, CCRVT know they’re on the right path and are eager to connect with even more pet owners. That brings me to writing this blog post… and you to reading it!

First, I’ll introduce you to Bridge City Veterinary Rehabilitation co-Owners, Sarah (left, above) and Christina (right). After working in general veterinary practice, they recognized a critical need for rehab services and expanded their expertise by earning the certifications. In 2023, they launched Bridge City Veterinary Rehabilitation as a mobile service. But due to overwhelming demand, they soon opened their beautiful clinic, offering a full range of traditional and rehabilitation services.
Now of course, Bridge City Veterinary Rehabilitation offers regular vet check-ups vaccinations, and all of the services that come to mind when you hear “vet”. But it’s also the only clinic in Saskatoon (aside from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine) offering rehabilitation for pets. In fact, Bridge City was built in response to the heartbreaking wait times animals were facing at the vet college. “When we first started, we recognized there was a huge gap in the community for rehab services,” Christina shares. “Pets were in pain and needed help, but they were often forced to wait for months, which is unacceptable. We knew we could offer faster, more accessible care.”

The clinic offers several advanced treatments that can help pets at every stage of recovery:
Underwater Treadmill: This popular treatment helps pets recover from surgery, manage arthritis, and regain strength after neurological issues. “The underwater treadmill is a game changer,” Christina said. “It’s low-impact but incredibly effective in building strength and helping pets regain mobility.”
Non-Invasive Pain Relief: Bridge City offers therapies laser therapy and PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field) therapy to reduce inflammation, manage pain, and promote healing. “These therapies are a great way to reduce pain and inflammation without needing invasive procedures,” Sarah noted.
Acupuncture: This Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine technique has shown effectiveness in treating arthritis or joint inflammation.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy: A natural treatment that uses a pet's own blood to promote healing and reduce pain.
Pet Gym: Various agility aids allow the vets to assess and exercise the animals.
Home Exercise Programs: To ensure continued progress at home, Bridge City provides tailored exercise programs that help pet owners guide their pets through safe, effective movement exercises. “We believe in empowering owners to be part of their pet’s recovery,” said Christina. “By teaching them how to properly exercise their pets at home, we make sure the healing process continues even after they leave our clinic.”
For both Bridge City owners, their professional journey began with a personal connection to animals. For Sarah, who grew up on an acreage near Saskatoon, the connection to animals was always part of life. “I saved my babysitting money to buy my horse, Breeze, who’s still thriving at 24 years old on our family farm. That lifelong bond with animals is what drew me to the veterinary world.”
Christina, as well, felt called to the profession early. “As a child, I experienced the loss of my favourite cat, Caramel, to chronic kidney disease, and that’s when I knew I wanted to help pets like her when I grew up.”

That genuine care for animals has gone into every choice they’ve made in building their business. “We wanted to create a clinic where pets feel safe and comfortable from the very first visit,” says Christina. “From puppy vaccinations to senior care, we’re here for pets through every stage of their lives. Our space allows us to offer the most advanced rehabilitation options, while also creating a calm environment where both pets and people feel at ease.”
“At Bridge City, we focus on a holistic approach to healing,” Sarah explains. “We don’t just treat symptoms—we treat the whole pet. Whether they’re recovering from surgery, dealing with arthritis, or struggling with mobility, our goal is to improve their quality of life through personalized rehabilitation programs.”
Bridge City’s services are already making a noticeable impact on the pets they treat. One success story is Faith, a senior Collie mix who ruptured her cranial cruciate ligament (CCL), a common injury in dogs. Faith underwent surgery and rehabilitation at Bridge City and made a full recovery. “Faith is a perfect example that age doesn’t have to be a barrier to healing,” says Christina. “She recovered fully and is now able to enjoy her senior years with much more comfort.”
Another is Dukey, a Basset Hound mix who suffered a spinal cord injury and was unable to use his back legs for two months. After starting rehabilitation at Bridge City, Dukey regained the use of his legs within weeks. “It’s always inspiring to see how quickly pets like Dukey can improve with the right care,” Sarah tells. “He’s back to running and playing just like before his injury.”

Bridge City has already made a positive impact on the pets and families they’ve helped, and the clinic’s founders are excited for the future. Sarah sums it up. “We’re passionate about providing the best possible care, and we’re so grateful to the community for supporting us. We look forward to helping more pets live happy, healthy, and pain-free lives.”
If you’re a pet owner in Saskatoon, put Bridge City Veterinary Rehabilitation on your radar. Whether your pet is recovering from surgery, managing pain, struggling with mobility, or you’re just on the lookout for great vet care, Bridge City is ready to welcome you.
