Saskatoon Indoor Activities for Kids
UPDATED FEB 2023 Looking to keep your kids active but the weather isn’t cooperating? You might know that I make lists of things to do in Saskatoon! So whether you’re reading this during a cold snap and want warmth to play or on a hot day and in need of shade, this list of Saskatoon indoor activities for kids is for you. This is a consistently updated list of things to do and places to go for active toddlers, preschoolers, and kids to burn off some steam in Saskatoon.
First, do you follow me on Instagram? All of my city guides are volunteer hours from me to you & if you find them useful, I would love if you’d skip over to my @sneaksandlipstick Instagram page and hit that follow button! And, I’m now on TikTok!
Apex Trampoline - A hit for all ages.
BabyBean Play Cafe- Parent & tot play cafe in Riversdale. Healthy & affordable means, coffee, plus toys and activities.
The Backyard SK bouncy castles
Bowling Hunter Bowling has two locations, east and north. And as I’ll mention further in, Stoked Centre has new 10 pin lanes including VIP hologram lanes. Online booking for that will be up sometime next month.
Bus Tour- It may not seem like a big deal to us now, but remember how cool it was to take the bus when you were a kid? Tracy says taking her kids around the city via public transportation just for fun has been a hit. Why not give it a go? Strollers are accommodated. Use the new Mobile app to buy your ticket instead of scrounging for change.
Clip n Climb Climbing and obstacle courses await at this family favourite.
CJ’s Climb and Play indoor playground in Warman.
DJ’s Adventureland indoor playground in Stonebridge.
Empire Parkour Although Empire focuses on classes and group events, they have two open gym times: Wednesdays 6:30pm-9:30pm and Saturdays 5:00pm-8:00pm. The cost is $15 and it's ages 7+.
Escape Rooms. For kids aged around 8 and up, check out Breakout Escape and Escape City for family-friendly options.
Flynn’s Forest indoor playground in Sutherland.
Fun Factory indoor playground, games room, and arcade for all ages
Grip It. Climbing aged 5+.
Grocery stores- It’s a two-birds situation: you get the food you need, your kids get to stretch their legs. For very little ones, it’s a chance to talk about colour, texture, learn about how to pick out product, and get them helping out. Aaaand there are toy sections. It’s the place for which the timer on your phone was invented. My pick is Superstore on 8th since it's got underground parking with a big ramp to run up.
Kidz Castle indoor playground on Circle Drive North
King Me board game cafe. Get out of the house & play something new!
Indoor Skating- When the weather makes braving the Bes rink daunting, reader Tracy recommends the Lion's Arena who even has free skating for 5 and under. Pretty unbeatable deal!
Leisure Centres- There’s more to Saskatoon’s Leisure Centres than swimming— the Lawson and Lakewood gyms and indoor playgrounds are a good time, too! Check out the drop-in schedule for details.
Saskatoon Public Library. You might think of a quiet space when I say the word but there are lots of opportunities for kids to get active in Saskatoon libraries be it in toy areas or through programming like Wiggle Time. Check out the schedule for more info.
Malls- With underground parking and a mini golf course with the major attraction of giant goldfish Market Mall is a draw for my family. Also there is We Move which offers music and movement classes so if you’ve never been to one, note that they offer drop-in opportunities. Other malls have coin-op rides and lots of room to run.
Mars Mini Golf 3D Glow in the Dark mini golf, need I say more?
Nutrien Wonderhub My favourite indoor activity ever since it opened, Nutrien Wonderhub offers engagement for children 0-12 and beyond. My kids love climbing the crocheted net, working in the potash mine downstairs, acting on the green screen, cookin’ in the kitchen, and more more more. Admission is $8/each over 1 year of age, but a 6-person annual membership is $200 so if you plan on going often, it’s very worthwhile.
The Park YXE indoor playground
Prairie Jurrasic- Lazer tag! Ages 6+.
Pokey’s Pinball- It’s got a neighborhood pub vibe but kids are welcome until 8pm.
Remai Modern Art Gallery- Bright, warm, open, and engaging, Saskatoon’s newest attraction is meant for everyone and thanks to another recent generous gift (of 20 million dollars) from Ellen Remai, admission is by donation. If you can’t afford one, it’s okay, Ellen’s got ya. If your babe is 18 months or under, join their Stroller Tour . And if you’ve got a little mover, just go at their pace. The art lab is also open Saturdays 10-5 with admission and Sunday 1-4 totally free.
Ruckers- Indoor amusement centre packed with games that win your kids tickets… which they spend on things like yet another bouncy ball.
Sask Aviation Museum Most of the exhibits are a look-don't-touch sitch but the “Tracker Simulator” lets you manipulate the controls in the cock-pit of the plane. And I can see teens getting excited about the flight simulators which let you receive instruction on approach, landing, and taxiing a Cessna 172 with a front surround visual. Open Wed-Sun 9-4
Saskatoon Family Centre If you have children 0-5 years old, CHECK THIS PLACE OUT. There is no charge to any of their services and it is meant for everyone in the community. The Family Centre offers parent and child play-together programs, parent and child music and literacy programs, programs and information sessions facilitated by health care professionals, and other supports. Currently, bookings are required to play and create in the centre.
Saskatoon Museum of Military Artifacts- Hear me out. If you ended up with a child (like my son) who’s fascinated by bullets, planes, and uniforms, you need to go to this museum located under the Nutana Legion. Open Thursdays 1-4pm and Saturdays 3-5pm.
Saskatoon Soccer Centre Indoor Playgroup- Every morning, the SSCI offers two fully enclosed fields of toys & cars for pre-schoolers & babies at Saskatoon Kinsmen/Henk Ruys Soccer Centre in Lawson Heights. With a five-dollar drop in rate (babies under 12 months are free), can you go wrong?
Smash Therapy- This one’s for your teens. Let them take out all of that pent-up covid rage! Ages 13+
Stoked Centre at Wilson’s has ziplining, high speed electric go karts, a 10 pin bowling alley, and the coolest arcade in town. If you haven’t seen my previews on Instagram, you’ll wanna check it out.
Swimming- Get a taste of summertime at any of the City’s indoor pools (click here for public, family, and parent and tot times). Just remember to bring your toques for that chilly run to the car afterward!
Taiso has drop-in programming. Use this registration link: https://www.taiso.ca/registration.html
University of Saskatchewan- The Geology/Biology building is open again! It’s home to a mini dinosaur museum your kids will love and the skywalks provide the perfect race track.
Wanuskewin Heritage Park. This is a gorgeous, interesting, important museum that’s made in an interactive way. There is drop-in programming available, see their page for details.
Western Development Museum- One year for your whole family at the WDM is $70 and SO worth it. Boomtown (where there’s often a blacksmith working away), the car and train bits, the sod house, the fun house... there’s lots to see and plenty of room to run. Plus, there are always travelling exhibits popping up. Right now, take in the Eaton’s Christmas display!
Wet Paint Pottery If you have a creative kiddo, let them choose a ceramic to paint, glaze, and then return for once it’s fired. Pretty cool.
I hope this list helps your kids find some active play during a cold spell… or lets them beat the heat, depending on the season you catch this post!
