Saskatoon Christmas Events 2022

I’ve had a few requests for a list of Christmas events in Saskatoon because as you may know, I MAKE LISTS. So, sorted by date, here’s what’s going on in Saskatoon to celebrate the holiday season— you may also be interested in my Winter Guide for Families that I wrote for the city’s tourism site or my Indoor Active Kids Guide which shares play centres and much more.

Nov 18-Jan 8 BHP Enchanted Forest Open 5:30-10 and benefitting the City Hospital Foundation, this beautiful light sculpture tour is an annual hit. $10 Per Person or $35 Per Car (Up to 7 people), 5 years or under Free.

Nov 19 Wonder & Whimsy and Tangled in Tiaras’ Holiday Ball Play, sing, dance, and craft with Olaf and the snow sisters. $25/child, $20/adult.

Nov 20 The Nutcracker at TCU Tickets start at $32.

Nov 25 & 27 SSO Time for Toddlers at Nutrien Wonderhub, A Winter’s Tale – The snow is sparkling all around and the sound of music fills the crisp air. Join the Saskatoon Symphony Core Musicians for a Winter’s Tale featuring the music of Tchaikovsky along with familiar music of the season. Listen, dance and sing. There may even be a visit from the Sugar Plum Fairy! $12

Nov 25-Dec 5 Festival of Trees at Western Development Museum (WDM) benefitting health care in the province. Go see the lively decorated trees and maybe even buy one! My favourite part is seeing the incredible gingerbread houses. $5.23-12.57, 5 and under are free.

Nov 20-Dec 2 A Christmas Carol at the Marr Residence. What a cool location On The Boards has chosen for this classic play! $25

Nov 23 & 24 25th Christmas Celebration “Finale” concert at TCU. Experience the Elim choir, featured performers, a 25 piece orchestra, guest artists, and aerialist Nicole Shroeder.

Nov 26 Saskatoon Children’s Choir presents “Sing Choir of Angels” at Knox United. $36

Nov 27 Santa Claus Parade benefitting Ronald McDonald House (free to attend) as well, photos with Santa begin at Midtown.

Nov 30 Christmas Carnival at WDM Kids 3-10 will love playing games like ring toss, ice fishing, snowball toss, and experiencing the custom-made bubble pool. Included is a light supper buffet, popcorn, cotton candy, face painting, and a balloon animal. Festival of Trees entrance is included. $35

Dec 1-30 Glow Saskatoon at Prairieland, $30

Dec 1-4 & 8-11 Nuts & Crackers is playing at the Barn Playhouse. $25/child, $30/adult, dinner can be bundled.

Dec 2 Supper with Santa at WDM $35

Dec 3 SSO Muppet Christmas Carol at TCU. The Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra will present Disney’s The Muppet Christmas Carol in Concert featuring a screening of the complete film with the musical score performed live to the film. Tickets start at $64

Dec 3 Victorian Christmas at Diefenbaker Centre is back in person!! Kids 7-10 will learn all about the 19th Century origins of our modern Christmas traditions! What was Victorian Era school like in the wintertime? How did students celebrate the holidays at school? Kids will make authentic Victorian Christmas decorations, decorate a Christmas tree, play Victorian Era parlour games, sing traditional Christmas carols, and more. Traditional Victorian Christmas punch will also be served along with gingerbread cookies. $30

Dec 3 & 4 A Classic Christmas: Wingerter & Janovsky at the Bassment. Vocal and piano, all your favourite holiday songs. $35, $25 member pricing

Dec 4 TCU Free Family Movie Day. TCU presents Polar Express with doors at 2, movie at 3. No tickets required as it’s rush seating. Hot chocolate is provided, holiday-themed concession will be open for purchasing. In the spirit of the holiday season, please bring a new, unwrapped toy to be donated to the Salvation Army or non-perishable food item for donation to the Saskatoon Food Bank.

Dec 7 Holiday Dreams, A Spectacular Holiday Cirque at SaskTel Centre. Tickets start at $51.50.

Dec 8 Broadway Spirit of Christmas Free event put on by the BBID with sleigh rides, hot chocolate, Frostie Friends courtesy of Tangled in Tiaras, performances by Broadway Brass, smores, and a warm fire by the Little Stone Stage in front of Ecole Victoria School. Festival runs 6-9 but you are invited to get your shopping started whenever!

Ronald McDonald  walking light tour of Whoville in the Garden, located in the garden beside RMHC-SK (1011 University Drive in Saskatoon). Runs until December 22, 2022. Hours of operation are 6-8:30 PM, Monday - Sunday. This family friendly walking light tour is created by RMHC-SK staff and volunteers to bring joy to the families staying at RMHC-SK during the holiday season, and to spread joy throughout the community. This event is free to attend where a suggested donation to RMHC-SK is encouraged, if you are able to support. Volunteers will greet you at the entrance and offer you a complimentary hot chocolate to enjoy as you walk through the light tour. Proudly supported by Coca-Cola who will be matching donations up to $12,000!  

Dec 8 & 9 Joy of Vox vocal ensemble Holiday Concert at Holy Family Cathedral, doors 6:45, show at 7:30. $25

Dec 9 Saskatoon Soaps Improv Comedy: X-Mas Office Party at Broadway Theatre 8pm. $15

Dec 10 SJO Swing, Comfort, & Joy featuring Alexis Normand at Broadway Theatre, 7:30. $15-30.

Dec 10 Christmas Light Parade Toy Run at Lawson location of Brown’s, 7-9. You’re invited to decorate your vehicle and join in, or just watch. All proceeds go to Jim Pattison Children’s and Ronald McDonald House.

Dec 10 Story Bundles: Michif Christmas Traditions at Remai Modern. Visit and learn how the Michif celebrated and feasted at Christmas, as family stories and traditions are shared by knowledge keepers Nora Cummings, Faye Maurice and Cort Dogniez. No reservation required. Admission is by donation, or free for members and youth under 18.

Dec 10 Rockin’ Around Riversdale. The Riversdale District BID invites you to join them for shopping, special deals, gifts, and fun from 5-8PM. Make sure you pop over to the Riversdale BID office (344 20th Street West - Little Chief Station) and warm up by the fire! Refreshments will be available.

Dec 11 Eclipse Chorus: Together Again at Christmas at Broadway Theatre. $25

Dec 13-18 A Rez Christmas Carol at Broadway Theatre. All ages are invited to enjoy this comedic look at life on the Rez during the Christmas season. The story follows a scrooge-like band manager who catches the attention of the Spirits of the Four Directions. The Spirits take Purdy on a journey through the lives of the people she has affected. The consequences of Ms. Purdy’s choices and actions are revealed to her as the events of the story unfold creating a humorous and moving look at life on the Rez at Christmas time. $20-25

Dec 15 Jeffry Straker’s A Very Prairie Christmas at The Bassment. $27-37

Dec 16 The Christmas Songbirds at The Bassment. Kathi Lewis, Theresa Sokyrka, and Tatrina Tai: three great vocalists singing a night of Christmas favourites. $25-35

Dec 16 SSO Handel’s Messiah at Knox United, $40-50ish

Dec 17 SSO Handel’s Messiah sing-a-long at Knox United $40-50ish or a $20 singing ticket

Dec 17 Christmas with Solstice at the Bassment, $30-40

Dec 19 & 20 Fireside Singers Christmas Memories at TCU, $53
