Saskatchewan to Paris: A path to the Olympic podium

Saskatchewan to Paris: A path to the Olympic podium

Humboldt’s Paige Crozon and Team Canada’s 3x3 basketball team have just defeated Australia to win their first game in the Paris 2024 Olympics. It’s a victory that, fingers crossed, will be relived tomorrow against China. Crozon is one of only 23 athletes with Saskatchewan ties out of our country’s total 315 …so I’m joining the province in cheering extra loud for them.

Crozon deserves the cheers. As I’ve learned through media coverage, she’s a advocate for and Central Manager of Living Skies Indigenous Basketball League. Living Skies has a no-fee registration and works to makes the sport accessible for people of all backgrounds, a commitment to reconciliation and community.

And as a mother myself, I love to see Crozon— a single mom, mind you!— including her daughter, Poppy every step along the way. You can see that Poppy is with her mama in Paris not out of necessity, but out of joy.

In exciting news, Paige Crozon & the Canadian 3x3 team’s homecoming will be at the YXE Urban Games (Aug 16-18) right here in Saskatoon! And although yes, we have previously hosted the FIBA 3x3, having a full sport festival anchored to the event will be a first for our city. It’s an exciting opportunity to cheer on Crozon and Team Canada… in person! Click here to volunteer, click here to sign up for local 3x3, or click here to sign up for urban sports including skateboarding, Fustal, breaking, and more. CLICK HERE TO BUY TICKETS.

Until then, catch the July 31 Olympic match 10am Saskatchewan time on TSN or CBC Gem.
